The Gym Group was named in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024 in the big organisation category, scoring highly on Diversity & Inclusion, Wellbeing, and Job Satisfaction.

In 2025 we retained Investors in People Gold accreditation and we moved up to Gold for We Invest in Wellbeing.

In 2022 The Gym Group won a Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Award, honouring the Best Places to Work in 2022. This award was entirely determined by the feedback of employees at The Gym Group, recognising a strong culture and high engagement.

In 2022 The Gym Group won the award for Best Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategy in the Reward Gateway Engagement Excellence Awards recognising a commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace culture where every individual feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to succeed.

In 2024 The Gym Group received a Gold Award by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) - the internationally renowned Health and Safety Awards, as recognition for high standards of health and safety.

In 2023 The Gym Group became the first fitness operator in the world to have its science-based net-zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These targets include reducing scope 1 and 2 emissions 50% by 2030* and reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90% by 2045*.

In 2022, The Gym Group became the first carbon neutral gym chain in the UK.

The Gym Group successfully advanced from Silver to Gold and has moved from a Strategic to a Leading Edge organisation - the highest levels of accreditation by inclusion in, reflecting the ongoing commitment across the business to foster an inclusive environment.

This is the highest level of recognition in the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme.
